Male Escort or Ice Cream?

One Happy Customer.

One Happy Customer.

Would you date a guy called, Bistophall? How about, Aston Long, Dino Tuscano, Amor Cledius, Sample Model, or Ian Lawless? Better yet, would you pay to date them? They’d sure be happy to take your money. They’re male escorts and they aim to please.

I came across the above “man collection” while doing research for this post (yeah, sure, Pam). It reminded me of something that I often tell my girlfriends: everything changes after forty. Maybe I speak for myself but it seems that deep down, you’re more settled and confident. You’re letting go and opening to something new, fun, and freeing.

Including male escorts with names like gladiators or vanity plates. Or not. Is the concept of a woman paying for sex still too taboo and, well, whorish?

Not in France, it seems.

Late last year, the poster for a popular movie there, called “Cliente,” was plastered around the Paris Métro stations. It showed a slim woman in her 50s in a cocktail dress, reclining on a leather sofa. In the foreground, a man, his torso nude, slips two 100-euro notes into his pocket.

In the movie, Judith, the client, is a successful woman with no apparent problems and one secret: she uses sexual services of young men she finds on Internet escort sites.

I mean, why not? Why be lonely after your divorce? Why grieve over the ex-husband who ran away with a younger woman who looks just like you used to? Why bother reinventing yourself with another man and a new family? Why keep dating “Ben & Jerry” when all you want is to get laid? Take control. Buy your sexual fulfillment. Just like Judith.

Only in France, you say?

If only.

In 2006, Heidi Fleiss, the infamous Hollywood Madam, announced plans for her pleasure oasis in the Nevada desert. It is intended to be “a collection of luxurious bungalows featuring bedrooms with fireplaces where [women’s] sexual fantasies and desires are catered to, starting at $250 an hour.”

And then there are the “sex tourists.” While on vacation in spots like Jamaica, Thailand, or the Dominican Republic, it appears that some women pay for sex and the companionship of usually younger men. Others may stick closer to home, hiring their personal trainer, tennis coach or, yes, the pool boy for “services rendered.”

Times, they have changed. Women have money and they’re tired of online dating. They want their Dream Boy and they want him to take directions with a smile.

Surprisingly, I couldn’t find any recent information on Fleiss’ so called, “Stud Farm.” I did, however, find a blog post indicating that Fleiss is now accepting “manwhore applications.” I wonder if she needs help screening candidates? (It’d be for research purposes only, of course.)

Somebody recently did a show on the stud farm … I’d guess I saw it on the Travel Channel about four months ago … not sure how old it was … but it showed a very less-than-stellar Heidi living with a bunch of wild birds and trying to get permits for her pleasure palace. Seems that the little town she’s targeted has not taken kindly to her presents. I mean presence.

What do you have in mind for “screening candidates?” In other words, what would be your qualifications and/or requisites for purchase?

Emma, you astute little cookie, you. You are correct. There was an HBO documentary about her: HEIDI FLEISS: THE WOULD-BE MADAM OF CRYSTAL. Apparently they had to pay her to appear in her own doco and it flopped. Given this synopsis of her, I’m not surprised: “…Fleiss offers some revelations about herself. She was a child chess champion in Los Angeles; she got her entrepreneurial start running a babysitting service in high school; she has a weakness for that “white trash drug, crystal meth,” she’s had breast enhancement surgery; and she’s never been in love with another person.”

I don’t know. A prude I am not and certainly open minded and eager to try new things, especially sexual ones, so maybe I’m old-fashioned or something else, but this idea gives me the creeps. Then again men seeking sex for money does the same. There must be friends available for no strings attached sex if that’s what you want or need as in spousal demise or divorce.
No judgments, but it’s how I feel.

@nyx – let’s see, I can see it now – a website with vitual “tours,” a services menu and testimonials from previous happy clients? A scorecard for performance in various, ah, techniques? Oooh, and a search function that would let you look for candidates who rank highly in your favorite activities….

But I do agree with @tinque – I do find this whole idea creepy.

If Heidi has never been in love with another person, could she possibly love herself? Seems like that’s what’s driving her career choices….

[...] I don’t mean to imply that all male escorts are gigolos (for more on male escorts, see my earlier post). I’m sure most of them are only too happy to fill the empty chair beside you at some boring [...]

Great blog post.

The only problem is what if you don’t want to pay for just the “dream” anymore? What if you want the dream to become reality? :-(

What do you think?
